Marietas islands has become a popular touristic destination in Banderas Bay due to its unique characteristics and marine life, join us in this adventure… feel the ocean, feel the life!

Marietas Islands are an archipelago comprising four land extensions that were recognized in 2005 by UNESCO as Marietas Islands National Park, and Biosphere Reserve in 2008; due to its geology and vegetation this wildlife refuge offers a reproduction and nesting area to a variety of species such as tropical fish, turtles, birds (the Blue Footed Booby Bird), coral reefs and marine mammals mainly humpback whales during the winter.

The two main islands are called “Isla Larga” (Long Island) and “Isla Redonda” (Round Island); the Long Island owns its name to its size since it is bigger than the Round Island and the islets. In regards to the Round Island, this land extension has become famous due to its beautiful and unique Playa Escondida (Hidden Beach) also known as “Playa del Amor”.

Exploring around huge extensions of coral reefs and a series of tunnels and caves, we will enjoy observing different marine species, mainly sea cucumbers, yellow fin surgeon, trigger fish, trumpet fish, sea turtles, etc.

It’s always important to remind that we are visiting a protected area and we should respectfully enjoy our staying in this sanctuary, so in order to minimize the impact of visitors and preserve this National Park we will respect the current park regulations at any time.
